Forests are not only found on land, but can also be found in the ocean! Kelp forests, to be exact, are marine forests made up of large, brown algae called kelp that can grow to over 45 metres tall. These forests form important habitat for fish, crabs, sharks and marine mammals like sea otters, who like to wrap themselves up in kelp fronds to keep from floating away while sleeping. Learn more about some of the amazing marine habitats that can be found along Canada’s shores in the Marine Life Encyclopedia.
