Myriam Khalfallah

Myriam Khalfallah is an expert in natural resource management, environment, and climate change, with a focus on marine fisheries and ecosystems. They most recently served as Project Lead for a 7 million USD climate change adaptation initiative for fisheries funded by the U.S. Department of State and implemented in North Africa. Their work focuses on environmental systems and marine fisheries in data-limited as well as conflict and post-conflict zones.

Myriam holds a Ph.D. in Resource Management and Environmental Studies from the Institute for Resources, Environment and Sustainability (IRES) and the Institute for the Oceans and Fisheries (IOF) at the University of British Columbia (UBC), where they also completed their postdoctoral fellowship. They hold a Bachelor of Engineering with a specialization in Environment, Agronomy, and Fisheries Sciences from the University of Carthage.

Beyond their scientific work, Myriam has been a photographer for over a decade. Originally from Tunisia, they are now based in the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
